How would you like to promote your business, provide job opportunities for students, support educational opportunities for youth and adults, and strengthen our community all at once? This is now possible with the launch of STEAM City Media at the STEAM Centre in St. Thomas!
STEAM City Media is a student-run media outlet and program of STEAM Education Centres. We feature three student-journalists generating original content to share on our website and across our social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Behind-the-scenes, we will have a team of supportive adults assisting the students, including Jessica Moyes, Executive Director of the STEAM Centre and STEAM Board Member (and professional graphic designer) Amanda De Vries. Additional help and technical support will be provided as required by STEAM Centre staff.
Our goal is to serve the community by telling news stories, covering events, and highlighting what is happening at the STEAM Centre and in our local schools. With the decline of traditional media outlets, we are stepping up with a new format! Here is how it works:
- We are asking sponsors to support the overall mission of the STEAM Centre, which is to empower all learners and makers in southwestern Ontario by developing creativity and problem-solving skills. This takes the form of educational programming focusing on robotics, coding, art and design, 3D printing, woodworking, computer numerical controls, and overall digital literacy — after all, STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! STEAM Centre also collaborates with the Thames Valley District School Board on secondary school programming. Now, we are adding STEAM City Media to the mix!
- If you sponsor the STEAM Centre, your contribution will be recognized on our STEAM City Media website and through our social media platforms. We will also add your logo to the walls in the ‘Media Room’ inside the STEAM Centre. This is a very active, exciting way to promote our community partners, and an innovative approach for local businesses and organizations to reach the ever-important youth demographic!
Please contact us to learn how you can sponsor us and how exactly your contribution will be recognized at STEAM Centre and through STEAM City Media. Thanks so much for your interest!
